Software development practices are changing dramatically. Object-Oriented techniques, Patterns, Frameworks, and Rapid Application Development (RAD) tools have made it possible for small teams to accomplish much more than legions of programmers could do using earlier techniques. But the “software crisis” is far from over. Users of software systems have become more demanding, as a shortage of skilled software developers is becoming more acute.

This site explores explores some of the strategies and techniques which help programmers achieve extreme levels of productivity. eXtreme Programming (XP), Feature Driven Development (FDD), and other methodologies will be explored in coming weeks.

One methodology uses an evolving Core Pattern Language that captures many of the best practices of the most productive software developers -- many of these practices were invented or captured in other methodologies like XP and FDD.
